Sustainable tourism in Las Perlas

With the goal of working  in a master plan to take care of nature and be sustainable in a long term , was created the Las Perlas Sustainable Tourism Chamber (CTSLP, in Spanish ).

The promoters, from Isla San José, Grupo Viveros, Isla Saboga, Cuna de Vida and Punta de Coco ,compose the CTSLP, some of which develop beach houses buildings, marinas and hotels.
“We don´t want people making towers like in Panama and harming nature in a few time,” commented André Niederhauser, owner of Cuna de Vida, and of the Sea Voyager ship , a cruise that makes tours to Las Perlas archipelago .
The entrepreneur assured that Las Perlas archipelago is the second richest in biodiversity in the world, after the Galápagos.
The idea is to maintain sustainability in the place , with small hotels , a minimal environmental impact, treatment of sewage, and garbage plans, among others.
Niederhauser commented that they also have tried to get the community involved with training in English language, sustainable farming and creation of micro-companies
It is important to maintain a sustainable tourism because otherwise, it could turn into a social , business and environmental problem in a long term, said the entrepreneur.

Anchoring
The CTSLP is also working with the National Environment  Authority (ANAM) in an anchoring plan to later perform a world promotion.
However, the businessman commented that they have requested ANAM an environmental impact study which they will pay as a guild in the places where the anchors will be located.
Among the actions the guild pretends to promote is the creation of a new law to design anchoring buoys of ships in specific places. This is important because an anchoring system for boats is essential to order the tourist traffic and protect the marine environment.

Also, to designate anchoring centers for ships will have an impact in the economy and in the quality of live of the neighbors.
Seven communities of Las Perlas, with a  population of approximately 3,000 inhabitants, will be benefitted.
