| Panama: ideal for birdwatching |

Panama has become one of the favorite places of foreigners for bird watching. In anama there are several places for bird watching such as : Los Quetzales, in Cerro Punta, in Chiriquí province, Sierra Llorona, in Colón; Burbayar on the way to Carti, near Nusagandi, an indigenous area, the mines of Cana, near Darién, and with the agency Ancon Expeditions. It is also possible to watch birds in the National Parks Soberanía, Metropolitano, Chagres and Darién. According to some tour operators , hotels and conservationist associations, most of the bird watchers come from the United States, Canada, England, France, Spain, Denmark and Sweden. The Canopy Tower, is a world renowned place for bird watching . Even the magazine Travel & Leisure, selected this place in year 2003 as one of the best eco-lodges in the world. Most of the customers are Americans and British. In this place an adult can expend between US$1.000 y US$1.300 for a week. Endemic birds Of the 970 resident species of birds, 12 are endemic or exclusive to Panama. According to the web page of Panama´s Audubon Society , dedicated to the conservation and education on birds and their habitat: www.panamaaudubon.org , the endemic birds to Panama are: the brown-nacked dove, the Azuero parakeet, , the “Mango Veragüense”, the Escudo Hummingbird, the Glow-throated Hummingbird, The Coiba spinetail, the Beautiful Treerunner, the Stripe-cheeked Woodpecker, the Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet, The Green-naped Tanager, The Pirre Bush –Tanager and the Yellowgreen Finch. "Watching birds is more than a hobby, is a passion. Many of the people who come to the country enjoy observing the birds with appealing color, but others who are experts prefer to watch the unique birds,” said Guido Berguido, operations manager at Advantage Tours.
