In the province of Veraguas, specifically in the mountainous zone of Santa Fe, at the continental division, 57 kilometers from the provincial capital of Santiago, you´ll find an space for adventure and an exciting destination. Founded by the Spanish in 1558, Santa Fe offers visitors a fresh climate and panoramic views from its high peaks. To reach that place going through Santiago de Veraguas, allows visitors to appreciate the fertility of the lands and the life of its inhabitants in the fields. The district of Santa Fe presents an opportunity for ecological tourism, because the old growing forests are still untouched. This has raised the interest of Europeans and North Americans who visit the place, especially near the basin of río Santa María.
Adventure The rapids of Santa María and of the Mulabá attract those enthusiastic of extreme sports, especially rafting. These are two of the most popular rivers in the area for the practice of this activity. Billy Miller, a visitor from U.S., enjoyed the rapids of Santa María river during his vacations. Miller is a guide in his native state of Texas and said he arrived to Santa Fe by recommendation of one of his surf partners in Santa Clara beach (central province of Coclé). "I´m happy to be in Santa Fe because I feel like at home with these rapids,” Miller said. In Santa Fe, tourists can enjoy very cold water in the city of Bermejo and in the beaches of the Caribbean Sea. An antique church and the coffee factory of Cerro Tute are the most popular places among visitors. The highest point in the region is Cerro Mariposa, with 1.540 meters height. From its top, on a clear day, it is possible to observe both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
