| Panama will participate in Fitur 2010 |

As every year, Panama is getting ready to participate in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), that´ll take place in Madrid, Spain, from next January 20 to 24. The participation of Latin America in this event is important and Panama can serve as a bridge to create synergyes, since there are many business opportunities not only for the tourist industry, but also for the incentives sector.Annette Cárdenas, president of the Panama Tourism Chamber (Camtur) commented that they´ll take advantage of Panama´s participation in Fitur to promote “Expo Turismo Internacional”, an event to take place in this country, at the Atlapa Conventions Center, on October 7 and 8, of 2010. The executive indicated that, so far, they´ve had a very positive response from the members of Camtur for taking part in Fitur. According to Fitur organizers, promoting institutions, operating companies, hotels, travel agencies, consultanships and experts in general in management and development of tourist events will participate in this Fair. In the past edition, 12,312 exhibiting companies from 170 countries/regions, 136,177 participant professionals and 8.470 journalists met at Fitur 2009. Calendar Cárdenas added that the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP,in Spanish) has made an aggressive calendar of fairs to promote the country abroad. “We think that Panama is going to have a very interesting presence this year at the international fairs,” Cárdenas indicated. A press release from ATP explains that they are 31 fairs, distributed along North America, Latin America and Europe, which gather the markets that interest the most the Panamanian offer. In this calendar outstands the Taltexpo fair, from May 13 to 15 in Panama. The American Luxury Travel Expo will be dedicated to the luxury market who looks for tourists with high acquisitive power. Other important fairs are FITUR in Madrid, España, during the month of January, ITB of Berlin in March, the Miami Sea Trade and the WTM in London.
